Questions and answers
Everything you want to know before you start: about lucid dreaming, safety, the app and pricing. Support and contact are at the bottom.
Lucid dreaming
Can anyone learn to lucid dream?
About half of all people have had at least one lucid dream, and roughly 1 in 4 has one about once a month (Saunders et al. 2016). With focused practice, many people have them more often. There is no guarantee.
How fast will I have my first lucid dream?
Some people have one in the first week, many after a few weeks. In studies with motivated beginners, about 1 in 6 practice nights in the first week brought a lucid dream. That’s why the course runs for 8 weeks.
Does lucid dreaming help with nightmares?
Early studies are encouraging but small, and Finally Lucid is not a treatment. If nightmares weigh on you, talk to a doctor or a therapist. Effective treatments exist.
Safety
Is lucid dreaming dangerous?
For healthy people it’s considered safe. Alarm nights do interrupt your sleep, so the app plans at most two a week. With epilepsy, a mental illness, a sleep disorder, during pregnancy or with shift work, it plans without waking you at night.
What about sleep paralysis?
It can happen when you fall back asleep. It’s unpleasant but harmless, and it passes. Before your first alarm night, a lesson explains what to do.
The app
What happens to my dreams?
They stay on your iPhone. No AI reads them, and there’s no tracking. The iCloud backup is encrypted, and export is always free.
Do I need an account?
No. An account is optional. Your entries stay on your iPhone even if you create one.
Does it work without headphones?
Yes. The audio guides play through the speaker or headphones, even with the screen off.
Is Finally Lucid on Android?
Not yet. At launch, Finally Lucid is available for iPhone.
Which languages does the app support?
English and German, both complete.
