How it works
Your first lucid dream in 8 weeks
Finally Lucid is a course, not a gadget. One small step a day, in the order that works best in studies.
Your day
A few minutes is all it takes
Morning · 1 minute
Capture your dream
Speak or type it right after you wake up. Fragments count too. No dream? Tap “No dream today”, which counts as well.
Evening · 2 to 3 minutes
The lesson of the day
A short explanation with a small exercise for the night. Every evening the app suggests the right technique.
On alarm nights
Briefly awake, then back into the dream
The alarm rings in the dream-rich second half of the night. You capture your dream, practice for 10 to 20 minutes and fall back asleep with an audio guide.

The techniques
What you practice, briefly explained
Wake Back to Bed
The alarm method
An alarm wakes you briefly in the second half of the night. You capture your dream, practice a technique and fall back asleep. Without alarm nights, the techniques do much less.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams
MILD: the intention
You set the intention to notice that you’re dreaming in your next dream, and picture that moment in detail. A good fit if you already remember dreams.
Well supported
Senses Initiated Lucid Dream
SSILD: the senses round
You move your attention in rounds through seeing, hearing and feeling. Easy to learn, and it works without a remembered dream.
Well supported
Dream signs
Your dream signs
What keeps coming back in your dreams: your old school, a clock without hands, flying. The app finds these words in your journal. They help most in the MILD practice.
Early evidence
To be honest
What does less
Not everything recommended online actually works. These things are not part of the method.
Reality checks
Reality checks alone
Checking during the day whether you’re dreaming is popular. But several studies over two to four weeks found no effect, not even on top of MILD.
Probably not effective
Gadgets
Sounds, lights and pills
Light masks and sound cues were not clearly better than practice alone in newer studies. Finally Lucid does not recommend medication or supplements.
Unclear
How fast does it work?
Some people have their first lucid dream in the first week, many after a few weeks. In studies with motivated beginners, about 1 in 6 practice nights in the first week brought a lucid dream.
There is no guarantee. That’s why every step counts, even an almost-lucid dream where you ask yourself whether you’re dreaming.
Safe practice
- At most two alarm nights a week
- No alarm night after a short night
- Take a break if you feel tired during the day
- A short health check before you start
